Top tips to keep your phone’s battery in pristine condition for longer.

Does your phone battery die hours after you unplug it from your charger in the morning? Your phone’s battery health may be running low.

At a time when technology has become so advanced that it requires little maintenance, most people don’t give their charging habits a second thought. They regularly let their phones die and overcharge them every night.

Then, after about a year of use, their battery life begins to get noticeably shorter and shorter. At first, it’s nothing too bad, but after a few months of deterioration, your phone regularly dies after just a few hours of use.

This occurrence is more common than you might think. Battery health is usually measured in terms of “charge cycles,” or essentially how many times your battery can support being fully charged from 0%.

On average, we use 500 full charge cycles from our phone’s battery every 2 to 3 years.

Phone manufacturers estimate that at peak performance, their batteries lose about 20% of their max battery capacity after 300–500 charge cycles are used.
